Christian Israel

Clues

After one learns the true identity of today's descendants of the ten northern tribes of Israel, and really most of the twelve, it can be hard to overcome some of what we were taught. The idea that most of the Gentiles1 mentioned in the New Testament are actually descendants of the ten northern tribes of Israel is hard to grasp.

Let me show you a few clues that may help you see this truth more clearly. Then you can begin hunting the other clues on your own.

Romans 2:14-15
14 For when the nations, who do not have the Law, do by nature the things of the Law, these, not having the Law, are a law unto themselves;
15 who show the work of the Law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and the thoughts between one another accusing or even excusing one another,

I highlighted the word nations in verse 14 and then the clue in verse 15. Nations in many version is translated with the Latin word Gentiles. Paul was talking about some people called nations or gentiles who did not have the law or in other words were not a part of the house of Judah that existed in his day. Only the house of Judah had the Law. However, in verse 15 Paul says they have the law written in their hearts. According to the Bible there are only two groups of people that God has made a covenant with that is called the new covenant.

Hebrews 8:8-10
8 For finding fault with them, He said to them, "Behold, days are coming, says Yahweh, and I will make an end on the house of Israel and on the house of Judah; a new covenant shall be,:
9 not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day I took hold of their hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt," because they did not continue in My covenant, and I did not regard them, says Yahweh.
10 "For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the Lord: I will put My Laws into their mind and write them in their hearts, and I will be their God, and they shall be My people.

As you can see the new covenant was made only with the house of Israel and the house of Judah. (Since those of the house of Judah are Israelites both houses together are sometimes referred to as the house of Israel.) Notice what made up the covenant. God said that he would write his laws in their mind and in their hearts. So if we take this clue back to Romans 2:15 we can see that those Gentiles or nations were actually descendants of Jacob/Israel.

Here are some more clues from Ephesians.

Ephesians 1:5
"having predestined us to the adoption of children by Yahshua (Jesus) Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will,"

To whom does the adoption belong? The answer is in Romans 9:4. Israel! The word reconcile and inheritance are both used several times in the first two chapters and are mostly ignored in modern teaching because to take them literally would not make sense to those who do not know that these Gentiles were Israelites. The actual Greek word for adoption is not found in the new testament. The word we find actually means "placement as sons" and should be understood as "placement of those who are sons".

Take a look at Ephesians 2 and realize that it is a fulfillment of prophecy found in Ezekiel 37 in that the two houses of Israel would be rejoined together under one new head, Christ.

Ephesians 2:11-19
11 Therefore remember that you, the nations, in time past were in the flesh, who are called Uncircumcision by that which is called the Circumcision in the flesh made by hands;
12 and that at that time you were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world.
13 But now in Christ Jesus you who were once afar off are made near by the blood of Christ.
14 For He is our peace, He making us both one, and He has broken down the middle wall of partition between us,
15 having abolished in His flesh the enmity (the Law of commandments contained in ordinances) so that in Himself He might make the two into one new man, making peace between them;,
16 and so that He might reconcile both to God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity in Himself.
17 And He came and preached peace to you who were afar off, and to those who were near.
18 For through Him we both have access by one Spirit to the Father.
19 Now therefore you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints, and of the household of God,

Go back and read Ezekiel 11:16 and Daniel 9:7 and you will see who it was that was far off have been brought near. Do a study on all the verses in the Bible that have the phrase "among the Gentiles". It then becomes obvious that those who were "far off" were from the house of Israel and those who were "near" were of the house of Judah.

So now you can continue your study looking for clues like this. A few more examples of clues are found in Romans 9:4, Romans 9:24-25, which takes us back to Hosea and those promises, and 1 Peter 2:9-10, note the phrase "not a people". These are just three of more than a hundred such clues in scripture. There are also many clues that talk about the promised remarriage of Israel to Yahweh. A hint might lead you to the parables of the 10 virgins and the wedding feast.

Notes
1 The word gentiles as well as heathen and nation are all translated from the same Greek word ethnos, 1484 in Strong's Concordance. This word does not mean "non-Jew" as it is used more than 5 times for the nation of Judea during the time of Christ and Paul. It actually means nation or race. The Latin word Gentile indicates that these are kin of the same race.
